Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has fired Malawi men’s national senior football team also known as the Flames with immediate effect.
A statement posted on the association’s website (fam.com) said this is in line with FAM’s resolutions from the meeting held on October 28, 2024.
“The decision is based on recommendations from the technical commitee following the decimal performance of the Flames and subsequent failure to qualify for the 2025 Total Enegies African cup of Nations.
The statement continues to say, “FAM will be putting together a temporary technical pannel that will lead the team into the next assignments until the substantive replacement is identified.”
The FA has thanked the fired coach for the contribution made to the flames and wished him well.
The statement also asked stakeholders and malawians to keep on rallying behind the Flames and continue to support the team in the subsequent games.
