He said the hospital lacks a lot of things including members of staff hence the need for different stakeholders to support them.

“Our hospital experiences many of challenges and as youth around Makungwa, we thought of doing our part to what we can afford, hence conducting this activity.” Said Makungwa

He thanked all the youth that came to clean the hospital and help in cash.

Nellie phiri, a nurse at the hospital was delighted to have received the youth and cleaned the hospital.

She said the hospital was not clean as they have shortage of staff which made the available staff to clean part of the hospital in some days.

“Sometimes, the hospital is cleaned partly, but today all the tall glasses have been cut, the surrounding is swept and all the rooms from offices to wards are all cleaned.” Said Phiri.

Concurring with Phiri the hospital management Chairperson, Lameck Black commended the youths for organising themselves and clean the hospital premises.

The maternity room has two beds yet it covers a population of over 11000 households with a population of about 30,000 people. We therefore ask for help that includes renovation and construction of a modern and bigger maternity wing and a guardians shelter.” Said Black.

Makungwa youth club is one of the well-known clubs with youths coming from different villages under T/A Bvumbwe in the district.
