The Association of Muslim Journalists (AMUJO) is set to host its second Annual General Meeting (AGM) this Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Malawi Sun Hotel in Blantyre.

This comes after a rescheduling of the event initially planned for April. Confirming the development, AMUJO Publicity Secretary Cassim Aubi said all preparations are complete.

“There has been a delay as initially we were supposed to hold this AGM in April, but due to some circumstances, we shifted it,” said Aubi. “We are happy to have finally set the date, and I confirm that the AGM is on.”

This year’s gathering will bring together around 60 Muslim journalists from across the country under the timely theme: “Promoting Peaceful Co-Existence Through Ethical Journalism.”

Aubi further encouraged Muslim journalists who have not yet joined the association to seize this opportunity and become part of AMUJO’s growing network.

“Unity and collaboration among us as journalists are vital, not just for our profession, but for the impact we have in shaping peaceful narratives in society,” he said.

Aubi explained that the AGM  is very important  as it will provide an opportunity  for the Association  to reflect on the past year, discuss the challenges and plan for the future.

He said, “as an association, our objectives include to help in presenting the true image of islam, playing an Advisory role on communication matters relating to islam and Muslims and mentoring upcoming  Muslim journalists. “

AMUJO was launched with fanfare in April last year and continues to strengthen its presence as a platform for ethical media practice among Muslim journalists in Malawi.
