Police in Kanengo, Lilongwe have vowed to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability as they prepare for this year’s festive season joint patrols.
Speaking on behalf of the Officer-in-Charge during a preparatory meeting on Thursday, Superintendent Kondwani Nyondo, who also chairs the resource mobilisation sub-committee, said the team has put in place robust mechanisms to ensure every contribution is properly recorded and utilised.
“We are committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in the way we use resources,” Nyondo assured stakeholders.
His sentiments were echoed by community partners, who expressed confidence in the initiative. Rihana Rashid, Administration Coordinator at Sipri Milling, applauded the police for maintaining strong ties with community members in the fight against crime.
“Police are out there to patrol and safeguard each and every one of us, hence it is our obligation to support them so their operations are successful. Even when you get home to rest after a long day, you still depend on their security,” said Rashid.
Vice Chairperson for the Community Policing National Executive Committee (NEC), Catherine Kaparo, urged members of the public to take security seriously, stressing that safety is the foundation of meaningful development. She also thanked partners who have already pledged their contributions.
“We should not leave everything to the police because security starts with an individual. That’s why we ask companies, organisations and individuals to support us. Even the smallest help will make a difference,” Kaparo emphasised.
As preparations intensify, several companies, organisations and individuals have already committed their support, continuing a tradition of joint effort that has strengthened festive season security in previous years.
