Mighty Wanderers FC Head Coach Bob Mpinganjira has cautioned his players against taking a casual approach when they face Kamuzu Barracks in their final league match on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium.
Speaking to Club Media on Friday, Mpinganjira said his target is to end the season on a high note as the Nomads prepare to be officially crowned champions.
“We will fight to the end.
There is no room for complacency just because we are already champions. We will not allow Kamuzu Barracks to spoil our party. We have to fight for the win,” said Mpinganjira.
The Wanderers mentor acknowledged that Kamuzu Barracks will pose a serious challenge as they chase a top-eight finish, but stressed that his side remains focused on collecting maximum points.
“I know Kamuzu Barracks will come at us very hard because they still have something to fight for. For us, the target is clear, we want all three points,” he added.
Reflecting on the just-ended league campaign, Mpinganjira described the season as one of the toughest in recent years, praising his players for their resilience and consistency.
“This has been one of the hardest seasons. Teams fought tooth and nail, but we deserve a pat on the back for emerging champions. I commend the boys for fighting until the end and earning the title. That is the spirit we must carry forward as we approach the Castel Challenge Cup,” he said.
The Lali Lubani Boys will conclude their season on Saturday when they host ninth-placed Kamuzu Barracks at Bingu National Stadium.
Victory for the Nomads would see them finish the campaign with 71 points as they receive the championship crown in front of their supporters.
