NDIMOYO JOINS CHAM, BOOSTS ACCESS TO PALLIATIVE CARE

Ndimoyo Palliative Care Trust has reached a major milestone after securing accreditation and affiliation with the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM), a development expected to strengthen delivery of quality healthcare services to communities across central Malawi.

The affiliation places Ndimoyo among recognized faith-based health service providers in the country, affirming its compliance with national standards in healthcare delivery and its alignment with Malawi’s broader health strategy through CHAM’s partnership with government.

Ndimoyo, which has built a reputation for providing holistic palliative care, offers a range of services including cancer screening, clinical care support, training, and community-based interventions targeting vulnerable populations. Its inclusion in the CHAM network is seen as recognition of years of commitment to compassionate and patient-centered care.

Executive Director Chimwemwe Nyirenda described the development as a significant breakthrough, saying the affiliation will help the organisation expand its reach and improve service delivery.
“This milestone is not just about recognition, but about strengthening our ability to deliver dignified, compassionate and patient-centred care to those who need it most, closer to their homes,” said Nyirenda.

With the new membership, the Trust is expected to enhance collaboration with government health systems and other CHAM-affiliated facilities, improving coordination and expanding access to essential services for patients and families.

The partnership is also set to strengthen referral systems and integration of services, while boosting institutional capacity through technical support and shared expertise. Additionally, the affiliation raises Ndimoyo’s visibility within the national health framework and opens doors for new partnerships aimed at sustaining and expanding its services.

For underserved communities, the development is anticipated to translate into improved access to quality healthcare, particularly for individuals living with life-limiting illnesses who often struggle to receive adequate support.

Nyirenda further emphasised the organisation’s long-term commitment to vulnerable communities, noting that the recognition reflects years of dedication by staff, volunteers and partners.
“We are grateful to CHAM for welcoming us into its network and to all our partners and communities for their continued trust. Together, we will work to ensure that no one facing serious illness is left without the care and support they deserve,” he said.

Since its establishment, Ndimoyo has focused on delivering care that addresses not only medical needs but also emotional, social and spiritual well-being, a mission it now aims to strengthen further under the CHAM network.
