A lucky woman from Mchengautuwa in Mzuzu has become K14.5 million richer after winning big in an Aviator game on Bet Yanga, a product of Supa Pesa online sports betting.

On Friday, Supa Pesa officially presented a symbolic cheque of K14,544,276 to Patricia Chirwa, who placed a modest stake of K399 to scoop the life-changing jackpot.

“One day, a Supa Pesa agent came marketing at the market where I trade. I opened an account just out of interest,” said Chirwa, a small-scale businesswoman. “I’ve always played for fun. I never imagined it would one day change my life like this.”

She explained that she usually won smaller amounts, between K40,000 and K80,000, but this latest win took her by complete surprise.

“I don’t follow football, so I played the Aviator game instead. When I saw I had won, I couldn’t believe it,” she added.

With her windfall, Chirwa plans to purchase land, build houses, and reinvest in her grocery business.

“I’ll top up my business capital to help it grow,” she said, beaming with excitement. She was accompanied by her mother and other family members during the presentation.

Supa Pesa’s Public Relations Manager, Jescar Mponda, assured the public of the win’s authenticity and the company’s adherence to strict regulations.

“We comply fully with the Malawi Gaming and Lotteries Authority (MAGLA) and ensure all our games are transparent and fair,” said Mponda. “The fact that Patricia is happy to show her face and share her story proves the legitimacy of her win.”

Mponda further confirmed that the full amount would be transferred to Chirwa’s account within seven days.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate our first major winner in Mzuzu since launching our services here in June. This win is a testament to how well the brand has been received,” she added.

Mponda highlighted the competitive nature of Malawi’s betting market and said it drives companies like Supa Pesa to innovate and tailor services to customer preferences.

“Though many betting companies offer similar games, we add unique features that set us apart and make the experience more enjoyable for our users,” she said.

She emphasised that such competition ultimately benefits customers, giving them more choice and better service.

“With each company providing something slightly different, customers can find what best suits their interests. For us at Supa Pesa, it’s all about making our customers happy,” said Mponda.
