Henry Makalani, National Campaign Director of Friends of Atupele Muluzi, recently held a meeting with various groups, including chiefs, in the area of Senior Chief Masula at Msinja Ground in Lilongwe.

The purpose of the meeting was to garner support for United Democratic Front (UDF) presidential candidate, Atupele Muluzi, in the forthcoming elections scheduled for September 16, 2025.

Makalani explained that since Atupele Muluzi hails from the area, he wanted to personally ask the locals to support their “home boy” in the presidential race.

“Atupele Muluzi comes from this area. I decided to come here to ask people to support their own son who is contesting for the presidency in the next elections,” said Makalani.

During the meeting, Makalani outlined Muluzi’s “Business First Plan” blue print.

He noted that the locals were eager to welcome Muluzi and his running mate, Rex Kalolo for a political rally.

Kamzimbe Chauma, UDF Constituency Governor for Bunda, also addressed the gathering.

He urged people to vote for Muluzi, citing his clean track record and experience in various cabinet positions.

“He never mismanaged resources or swindled a single tambala in any of the ministries he served. This shows that he is a clean politician with no questionable character. I urge people in this area and Malawi at large to vote for this young, patriotic, and visionary leader,” said Chauma.

Chauma highlighted the development projects UDF implemented in the area during its tenure from 1994 to 2004 under former President Bakili Muluzi.

These projects included the construction of Kalonga Community Day Secondary School, Chankhandwe CDSS, a pastor’s house at Malingunde CCAP, and the upgrading of Mitundu Rural Hospital to a community hospital.

He requested that Makalani invite Muluzi and his running mate, Kalolo, to conduct a rally in the area.

The meeting drew traditional leaders and their subjects from Senior Chief Masula, Traditional Authority (T/A) Chitseka, T/A Masumbankhunda, and surrounding areas.
